Biography

Dr. Loucks received her Ph.D. in Economics from Washington State University in 1983 with specialties in Money and Banking and Industrial Organization. She also has a Master of Arts Degree in Economics from Washington State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Boise State University .

Chris came to the Department of Economics from Appalachian State University in 1989 where she taught Principles and Intermediate Microeconomics, Industrial Organization, and Money and Banking. At Boise State University , Chris is responsible for teaching Principles of Macroeconomics, Intermediate Macroeconomics and Money and Banking.

Her research interests are in the area of regulation and public policy. She has published articles and given presentations dealing with the effects of regulation in the banking industry and the relationship between political action committee contributions and membership on the relevant House and Senate oversight committees. She is also interested in non-profits and contributions to non-profits.

Dr. Loucks serves on the Board of Directors for Life’s Kitchen, a non-profit located in Boise that teaches life and culinary arts skills to at risk youth. She also serves on the Race Committee for the Komen Boise Race for the Cure®. A life-long runner, she prefers to spend her spare time investigating new trails in the foothills of Boise . A life-long chocoholic, she also likes sampling good chocolate!
